CCE 2.5 Quit working in DVD2SVCD!
I'm experiencing the weirdest problem. All of a sudden when I try to convert an .avi to dvdr with DVD2SVCD CCE hangs when it gets to the encoding screen. The progress screen comes up, but the time-line never activates. According to the task manager it's running and my CPU usage is at 100% but it is hanging. This happens with any version of DVD2SVCD and I've tried reinstalling CCE also. Here's my log where it hangs:
---AVS Begin---
LoadPlugin("D:\VIDEOT~1\DVD2SVCD\MPEG2Dec\mpeg2dec.dll")
AVISource("D:\PROGRA~1\KAZAAL~1\MYSHAR~1\INSPEC~1.AVI",False)
ConvertToYUY2()
BicubicResize(720,480,0.0,0.6)
ResampleAudio(44100)
----AVS End----
Funny thing about it is I do not have the Resample audio box checked. Is it because of this line (AVISource("D:\PROGRA~1\KAZAAL~1\MYSHAR~1\INSPEC~1.AVI",False)? And if so, why does it say False?
I should also add that if I select TMPGEnc as the encoder it works fine.
Any help would be appreciated!

Always make a search before posting. This was answered yesterday in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50294

I read that post and tried ticking resample audio, but it still fails the same way.

Sorry, I didn't see it was an AVI file. My guess is that there's an error in the AVI file. That's usually the problem.

I've tried 10 different files and checked them for audio problems as well as for bad frames and the files are fine, if I use CCE with TMPGEnc as the encoder, it works fine. I've done over 150 files and this problem just started. I even reformated and reinstalled XP!!!! Also regarding the ticking of the audio bitrate downsample box, I've never had to try that before this problem started.

How did you check them? Just playing them means nothing.
Check them in Vdub.

First I checked them for bad frames in V-Dub MP3 version. After that I ran them thru the regular V-dub to get rid of the variable bitrate sound. The files are just as good as all the files that used to work fine. This has got me completely stumped. I've done over a 150 files like this before this problem started. Even though I'm a newbie here I've been doing this for almost 2 years with no problems until now. CCE just refuses to start to encode, it goes thru making the vaf file but when it comes to the actual encode it freezes up.

try with this 3 checks
1) open the .avs dvd2svcd generated file with v-dub and see if it can play it. if not, there's some problems with avisynth or the script.
2) open the avi with cce (without resize it with avisynth) set your btr and start conversion. if it does not start there is a problem with cce itself.
3) open the .avs dvd2svcd with cce,set your options then start encoding
if it does not start you have probably messed up your windows installation (virus? trojan?) try with cce 2.67 too with eclcce

#1. Worked fine.
#2. Worked fine.
#3. Tried to start got this error: acmStreamConvert0 failed: At least one parameter is invalid.(11)
I also want add that this has happened with 2 different harddrives each with a different versions of Win XP. No virus's or trojons present.

1. What version of CCE are you using.
2. Please mail me your dvd2svcd.ini file and make a ref. to this thread.
3. Mail me also one of the exact avi filenames you're trying to convert.

3. Mail me also one of the exact avi filenames you're trying to convert. Just the name or the file itself?

I have had a few problem AVI's in the past that refused to convert. Not exactly like what is happening to you, but I had the CRC error only on these AVI's.
If it is anything like my problems then it is a problem with the source file. I have no idea what and could never figure out what was wrong with my files either, but when every other file works fine it can only be an issue with the source. As we have seen in the past CCE can be real finicky.
I was able to get a couple of them to convert, although not all, by switching to CCE version 2.62 and running in safe mode.
I would defintely try a different version of CCE and hope that it's some kind of incompatability between 2.50 and the particular AVI.
Worth trying anyway.

Ok, now here's a hot one.. I start one of the files (to send the results to dvd2svcd) and go to bed. I wake up to find that CCE is encoding. And I have only 182 hrs. left to wait.
Same problem vegasF6 at the top is experiencing. I'm not over clocking though and The only thing running in the backround is the same anti-virus that always ran before.
Now here's the kicker, as I'm typing this the speed is picking up...now down to 10 hrs left. I will try it later today with a dvd rip to make sure it is not my files, But I find it hard to believe that every file in the last month has been bad.
Thanks to all that have helped me and I'll keep posting my results.

This may be wasting your time, but humor me and check in the drivers32 section of your registry and tell me if you have set:
vidc.yuv2 = huffyuv.dll (I am curious what YUV2 handler you are using)
Sounddude
11th April 2003, 19:59
I have no registry entry with vidc.yuv2. The closest entry I have with huffyuv.dll is VIDC.HFYU = huffyuv.dll.

sorry, that should have been VIDC.YUY2 and set it to use huffy.dll

DDogg did you mean YUY2?
I can't find that registery setting myself.
I can find a vidc.yuy2 setting though.
Mine has msyuv.dll as the data.

Probably a waste of time. I would be curious what the 4c's were of the divx file. Also is DIVX installed or XVid? Milan's DShow filter installed? Just grasping at straws here so bare with me a bit.

Here's the line that came up when CCE freezes at start:Program Handle not found, terminating program. Does this help at all? I tried using G Spot to make sure I had all the codecs installed and I did. This failure was on a video capture avi I did earlier in divx 4. This was in safe mode.
