Subtitles & Fast forwarding SVCD

Doing a SVCD copy of XXX DVD and on a couple of scenes ppl speaking in a foreign language, in the DVD, writing in English comes up on the bottom of the screen. How do I get this to happen on the SVCD?
Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but it is all new to me. Also when playing the SVCD in a Philips DVD Player, I can't get the fast forward to work without the picture and sound going out of sync. The counter on the DVD player stops as well. The only way to fix it is to start the movie from the start again.

If you didn´t had selected any subtitles in dvd2svcd, the subs you mentioned seem to be in the video itself, and if they are hardcoded in the video, it won´t be easy to get rid of them.
Your second problem seems to be a player issue. Check out www.vcdhelp.com for more specific information about your player abilities.
