Hi there:
Im using VCDGalaxy 2.7 to backup my dvds and i would like to know how to "fuse" the subtites within the vob file or in any other step of the creation of the mpeg-1 file, in order to be able to then convert this "fusionated" sub+video-in-one file to mpeg-1 file and then burn it with vcdeasy.
Can anyone help me please???
Thanx!!:(

Thank you
BTW if it could help to make a choice, i own a P4 @ 1.8A ghz, 256 mb of RDRAM and a LG DVD-Rom

The way I look at it..."burning" means permanently and "muxing" means toggling on or off.

Muxing is when you take a file that contains the subtitles and mux it with the video to make one file (like you do with the audio). Burning in is when you take the subtitles, render them on top of the video, and then compress that as the video.
Muxing usually looks better because there are no compression artifacts with the subtitles and like 2COOL said you can turn them on and off. Burning in is nice because it is usually easer and you don't have to have anything special to play the video with subtitles. I have never used VCDGalaxy, what do you give it?

Thank you very much for the explanation. Now i understand
Now, what program should i use to Demux and which one to burn?
About VCDGalaxy, im really surprised i thought it was the program every1 used to backup dvds to vcds...
Its made of 3 programs:
DVD decrypter
DVD2AVI
Tmpgenc
And finally i use VCDEasy to burn the mpeg file to a vcd.
So, what programs to burn andwaht to demux?
2 more questions:
1.-is it possible to make a mpeg-1 file in demux mode and then burn it to a vcd(or s-vcd) and turn on and off the subtitles when playing it on a domestic dvd player? if yes, what program can make this?
2.-tell me about a program (not dvd decrypter) that can extract the subtitle file from a vob file (i have a dvd movie on my HD but there are only vobs, and no .sub or other subtitle extension files.
Thanx again

I think vobsub will work for burning in subtitles but you would need to give Tmpgenc an avisynth script instead of just a d2v. Vobsub will also extract the sub files from the vob. I don't know about a DVD player and turning subtitles off and on with a VCD but I would be very surprised if it wasn't possible. You should look in the guides on Doom9, there must be a VCD subtitle guide.
