HUGE news for Instant Copy users. I associated .pdi files with it...double click my .pdi file and burn....no more pdi2iso to burn with DVDDecrypter.....awesome time saver. I'm really glad I donated a month ago...gave him the kick in the butt he needed to implement this feature. I'm only kidding.

Wow, sounds wonderful, but how come when I download from either place,(Doom9 or BetaNews) I still get version 3.1.4.0? I'd love to get my hands on this now.

Very strange.......I click on your link, and I get the SetupDVDDecrypter.exe file that is 584 KB in size and it installs 3.1.4.0......According to the BetaNews site, it should be 725 KB or something like that......

Is the new version capable of making an mds file from a pdi? I recall Lightning UK saying that it was to be included with with 3.1.5.0. The reason i ask is that IC never seems to included the VIDEO_TS.VOB and when i tried burning a pdi that didnt include and PowerDVD and my standalone choke on the disc.

@Zainal...no it isn't I tried it. Anyway I don't know what you guys are doing with these whacko download managers or resume whatever or behind what kinda firewalls, etc. Cache managers...anyways this should work.

Is there anyway to test a pdi DVD before burning it without converting it with PDI2Iso? I like to use Daemon tools and test the DVD with PowerDVD, but it's annoying to have to use PDI2Iso to accomplish what seems like an unnecessary step. I really wish IC would just write out files or an ISO.

if you just want to see the video quality ONLY. just rename the .pdi files (all of them except the first one work) and append a .vob at the end
movie.pdi01
rename to movie.pdi01.vob
then just double click it (if you have .vobs associated with PowerDVD) and it'll play it.
If you want to check out subs, menus, etc. then you have no other option but to convert it to an iso with pdi2iso...takes about 4 mins.

just wondering, what's wrong with using instant copy to burn the .pdi files?

What only matters is what works for YOU. If burning with IC7 consistently produces a working backup then stick with it. Everybody has their own different working burning method. The only time it when using another method is if you are distributing or have more than one standalone you play your backups on.

nothing really....IC7 worked burning for me. Only thing was when it was set to max speed it would only burn 2X (30mins). DVDDecrypter and Nero would burn at 4X (15mins) so I prefer to use DVDDecrypter especially now without having to use pdi2iso first.

Damn, I'm annoyed I didnt get MDS working for PDI's. I must have forgotten to do it!
Anyway, ive been working on it and it appears to ok. Just need to do a bit more testing.

that's ok I love just being able to burn from .pdi.
It would be killer though to do what you say and create an MDS then mount that in daemon tools so we can check out subs, chapters, etc. before burning. It'd save us 4 mins of time and 4 GBs of hd space.

Well Ive got it creating the MDS just fine. The only problem now is with DAEMON Tools itself.
Like 3.1.4.0, DAEMON Tools requires the files it loads to be sector aligned (a multiple of 2048 or whatever) and PDI files dont seem to be. STUPID PINNACLE!!!!
I rewrote chunks of my code to get it working but im not sure i'll be able to convince the DT boys to do the same :(
So support for the images/MDS is now in DVD Dec, you just cant do anything with them!
LOL :D

"Don't count on it."
I doubt that'll happen cuz Daemon tools want official support (permissioin) from Pinnacle.

ok didn't read last post...maybe DT will implement it after all cuz they did get permission...man I need to slow down on reading

LIGHTNING UK!,
I noticed that DT 3.32 will let me mount PDI files (It mounts them okay but when I browse to the Stealth Drive it errors). This is a step ahead of DT 3.29, which didn't even let me mount the file. I'm guessing DT might support PDI, but isn't set up to handle split PDI files (IE, file.pdi, file.pdi01, etc).
I mention this because DT 3.32 is only available for download from the DT forum, and not the main DT web page. I was wondering which version you tested the MDS with, as I'm hoping that just maybe your MDS file would work with 3.32, if you have been using 3.29 for testing.

To support PDI, they will need to adjust their code to work with non aligned files. Its not just as simple as knowing the PDI header.
I am running 3.32 btw. If you look in the readme file, you'll seem im on the Beta team :)
