In one of my filters, I "interpolate" a bottom field from a top field by simply averaging the values between 2 lines of the top field to produce the bottom field.

Is this equivalent to any of the resize filters and if so which one?

Bilinear should be about the same thing.

Thanks - its one of those things I always wondered about but never got round to asking.

Doing a straight up filter would probably be faster than bilnear, I think virtualdub may have one (or does it just decimate the height, can't recall). But really, why would we want fake resolution.

Whats one of them then?

But really, why would we want fake resolution.

I use it to mask possible false motion artifacts in my PFR filter.
