Hello all, this is my first post here and I would just like to send out a huge thank you to all of the people who put in - what must have been - thousands of hours developing both this site and the utilities that keep us coming back. In particular, I would like to know what the preferred method is for sending donations to the developer(s) of DVD2SVCD. I am crossing over from DivX, and this tool has made it cake.

My question is about CCE version support in DVD2SVCD. I have used CCE 2.5 and 2.66 (both trial versions, and in the case of the latter, using RB's utility v1.3a) with great success I have also used TMPGenc 2.5.10 trial with good results. I found a noticeable boost in encoding speed using CCE over TMPGenc, and so like a bonehead, I ran out and bought CCE 2.67.01.08 Basic. I, however, feel like a champ because not only did I buy something before testing it, I even totally misunderstood the difference between 2.67 "SP" and "Basic".

I understand that they are completely different animals, but is support for the Basic (and much less expensive) version even on the radar or will the focus remain on the SP versions? I am one of those poor chaps that buys all of his software, and will purchase TMPGenc too if I need to, but I am just curious.

I have posted the error that I got using CCE 2.67.01.08, just to make sure that it is a version support error and not something else. However, all of the "SP" trial versions worked perfectly - and still do.

Sorry for the novel, but thanks again to everyone.

The screen shot of my error didn't post. I'll copy in just the text later.

Basic used to be a very poor product and only recently has it come up to OK level. It may have support in the future, but as for now there is no support for it as it works completely differently and the same commands will not work with it.

To sum it up there is currently no way to get basic to work so the error message won't matter anyway.

This new version of Basic is very new so only recently has any thought at all of support in DVD2SVCD has been brought up. It is too soon to know if it will ever be supported or not.

Thanks for the heads up. I had a feeling that this would be the case once I installed it and saw how different the settings window was. I surprise myself with just how bad my judgement can be sometimes. It's all good though. I'll pick up TMPGenc instead. Perhaps even a proc too. :D

has anything changed? is there a plan to support CCE basic at all, so we can use the greatness of CCE (albeit at 2-pass only)?
