something has been buggin me for a bit.. and i guess this is for the more experienced or more knowledgeable (than i, certainly)
say you have a DVD..
customized resized.. percentage set at say %66
the predicted pdi size is 4.35
the final pdi came out to be 4.12
does it mean that the encoding % was off? or does that mean 4.12 is the result of a %66 encode?
 i hope i'm making sense..

what you need to look at is the amount of original video and the size of the resulting video
ignore the 4.35 & 4.12 completely as they include audio :)
example. If what you wanted to keep was say 6Gb and had 0.5Gb of sound and you set it to 66%
the 66% would only apply to 5.5Gb (6-0.5) as the sound is not reduced, it is a constant :)
so 66% of 5.5Gb is 3.63Gb, now add the sound of 0.5Gb and that gives 4.13Gb
I hope you understand now
a method for you to try (if it's a 2.35:1 movie then this will not work)
1. change your DVDSaveQuality to 0 if you haven't done so
2. adjust the menu/extras to your preferred levels and set the main movie titole so your target is set to 4.37Gb
3. look at the screen format for each title and see whether it's 4:3 or 1.85
4. for all the 4:3 titles (mostly extras) add up all the predicted video sizes(figure outside the brackets)
5. for all the other widescreen titles add up all the predicted video sizes(figure outside the brackets)
6. now work out 1% of the 4:3 total and 2% of the widescreen total
7. add the two together and add this to 4.37Gb
8. adjust your main movie title to fit this new total
sounds complicated but it's simple mathematics and for a few minutes working out you should get around 4.37Gb after processing
If it's slighty over refer to my guides
