I've been having some problems compressing either from dvd or from avi sources using dvd2svcd I always seem to get stuck in CCE with a SRC error, I've had this error before but it had always to do with overclocking but right now I'm not doing absolutly any overclocking and I still get this error, I've tryed about 4 diferent sources.
Any sugestions ?

Do you mean a CRC error? I have never heard of a SRC error.
If it is a CRC error then know that sometimes it can be caused by the source video. Before trying anything drastic try these things first.
1. Try another movie. If it happens only on that one something maybe wrong with the srource.
2. Try using safe mode for CCE even for 2.5.
3. Try another version of CCE.
In the past I had one movie not be able to encode with 2.5 no matter what I did. I switched to 2.62 and used safe mode and was able to finish that movie. No other movie before or since gave me this problem.
Lastly if you have run all the hardware tests in the Q+A and your computer passes and you still have problems then use the CRC patch linked in the Q+A.

Tryed using a previouse version of dvd2svcd but always got a CRC error, right now I've tryed again an other movie and it compressed ok, so I still dont know what the problem was just hope it doesnt appear again.
Thanks for all the help

After all it isnt solved :(
I was able two compress two divx files (cd 1 and 2) but with all the others (about 10 diferent avi files) I get that same CRC error even in Safe Mode and in CBR(In bbpeg it stops at 70%), Right now am trying TMPGEnc and it seems to be working let see what happens in bbmpeg.

You might want to run some stress tests on your computer.
Run Prime95 and Memtest for a few hours.
Computer parts have been known to go bad after months of being fine. It's not a bad habit to get into anyway.

Yeah but isn't it strange that I'm able to compress 2 avi files several times.
The error messege I get is
"cce encoding failed:Error: Video check sum is different from that from that previouse pass.
Source video data or time code may be different.
Please check video tape or the information file
Please check video tape or the information file

Current: check sum= 009be882
Previouse: check sum= 009a8bd3

Just to make it clear.
Some computers just need that CRC patch. They wouldn't have made it if that wasn't the case.
Maybe it's a problem with the ripping of the DVD.
If you have another DVD drive try it.
There isn't much more I can add.

Well thanks but it isnt from the dvd since this is from diferent avi sources.

I've found that it is a timing error, expecially with fast memory chips, seems that you can get soft bit errors. Try changing your memory timing, found that memory configured by speed works pretty well, but many other factors can cause your machine to get these errors, but from what I can tell they are all memory related.
On a gigabyte 7vrxp board if I upped the fsb to high, like 150 I would start getting crc errors. I installed faster chips, but this did not help, tried changing memory timing from from normal to turbo ect.. still had the same problems. Many of these boards intialize some undocumented features in the chipset by polling the chips after a cmos reset, so that is something to try.
On a soltek 75FRN2-L I purchased a couple of pc3500 433 256k chips and had thing set up to run them at 422mhz, crc errors, was dividing down the clock frequency since I had the motherboard fsb running at 225. After messing with the thing for a while I set the motherboard to 200mhz and the ram speed to (spd) which equals 400mhz for them. This is in direct proportion to the fsb speed. No crc errors.
You will notice this stuff most if you overclock your mb, it takes some fooling around to fix it. Prime95 is a good program, but cce is a awesome check of your motherboards stability. Whenever I changed the MB to stock setting the crc errors would go away.
Of course it's possible that cce does something that it's not supposed to do, that causes this sort of thing, but you can fix it without patching cce, to me your just smoothing over an error. How many crc errors before the movie won't play?
Hope this helps :)
