View Full Version : Cannot Burn... Why and how do I fix?!

I am using the Sony-DRU500A and RecordNow DX. I have both folders created: AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS. I am trying to burn in data mode. All I do is use the wizard and select the two directories to burn. It comes in at around 4.2 Gigs. So I go to start burning and instantly I get something like: There was an error recording to the disc or something like that. Pretty much just won't burn. If I do not use the directories and just try to burn the files directly to the DVD-R it works and fits fine.
So what I want to know is if any of you have run into this and is there some type of a work around / fix for it?! I really want to get this backed up!
Thanks!

Hi airedale,
I too bought a DRU-500ax, and I too received the RecordNow DX burning software, which many swear by, but which I threw in the bin before it's installer got anywhere near my system! May I suggest that you download Nero 5.5.10.20 from Ahead's website ( www.ahead.de ) or directly from their FTP (f*p://ftp2.ahead.de ) and try again, using Nero? I think your problem may immediately disappear, and Nero is far more flexible than Record Now DX anyway.
Good luck. Let me know how you get on.

I know all about nero and I actually haven't had much luck with it. The DVD's that I have created with it can be played in my xbox, but in a standalone DVD player it will not work. It always pops up with an error and asks if I would like to fix the problem, but that the disc still may not be playable... etc... So I have usually had good luck with record now, until now.
I think I may have a solution for myself and that is to first turn the files all into an image file and then burn the image file directly.

I hear the new Nero fixes lots of the problems with it creating discs that wouldnt play in certain players.
I suggest you dont give up on it, and instead give it another try.
