without going thru the process of adding blank spaces as described elsewhere

i have tried to convert a couple of avis recently where the audio process has completed very quickly and the end result is often am mpeg with a minute or two of sound and then nothing.

http://www.practicenet.co.uk/demosite/homerjay/MadplaYerror.JPG

in order to try to pinpoint the problem i used another conversion program which has reported the following error during the process.

when i have previewed the avi's they are in sync so is there a procedure for correcting the audio streams prior to conversion

thanks

edit : dont seem to get the picture to appear in the post sorry

I had same problem with ac3 tracks. Try this :

First extract audio with Virtualdub. And repair audio track with BeSliced v0.2 by DSPguru.
After that convert it.
Download from http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Audio/BeSlicedv0.2.zip

Normally it happened with mp3 vbr audio track in avis.
It is better extract audio , convert first mp3 to uncompress wav and multiplex with virtualdub in a new avi file.
After use dvdsvcd as usual.

hi again gave it a go last night but it was my first attempt at any direct extraction or multiplexing in virualdub

basically i messed it up BIG TIME and was hoping if you have 5 mins you could advise me on which options to take for both processes

thanks for your help :)

Ok.
My english is not so good. But the procedure is easy.
Run Virtualdub and open your avi file.
Go to Video -> select “direct stream copy”
Go to audio .> select “direct stream copy”. Maybe is already selected.
Go to File -> save wav.

After this close virtualdub, and use any program for convert mp3 (extension is wav)to wav uncompressed. (for example “BeSweet” : http://dspguru.notrace.dk/ )
At this moment you have to wavs (one mp3 and one wav)

Open Virtualdub again.
Open avi.
Go to Video -> select “direct stream copy”
Go to audio .> select “wav audio”. Open wav file no compressed.
Go to audio .> select “direct stream copy”.
Go to file and save as new avi.

With this avi use dvd2svcd as usual.

If you want to fix a ac3 file, extracted from avi with last procedure.
Drag and drop the ac3 file inside the window of “bsliced” and will be fix.
But I think your problem is not an ac3 audio track.

Good luck
