I just did a quicky tutorial page for DVDShrink in German:

http://www.kreativhosting.com/dvdshrink/

This will maybe help some REAL beginners. This is v0.1 of the tutorial and I will update it with all of the DVDShrink features explained in Detail in the future.

Maybe some people will find it useful.

in your guide at the bottom it mentions it uses the system resources a lot and doesn't it just :)

if you CTRL+ALT+DEL, you can change the priority to BelowNormal or Low for DVDShrink and this frees the computer everytime you use it (XP dunno bowt rest)

if you don't use PC then DVDShrink will still work OK, but ever so slightly slower but at least it doesn't grind your PC to a halt if you try to use another app at the same time :)

that's what I normally do if I still wanna use the PC and I get a CPU hogging prog like this :)

You can also use CTRL+SHIFT+ESC (a bit faster, and it only requires one hand :))

cool, you learn something new everyday :D

wahoo! one hand free, now what can I do with it I wonder ;)

p.s. surely there must a way to make an app start automatically with a Low setting?

does anyone know?, just to save me looking :)

If you use the Alt Gr button you can do Alt-Ctrl-Del with one hand too...

Actually I am saying the exact oppsite ;) at the bottom of the tutorial. I am stating that DVDShrink DOES NOT hog the system resources alot so you can use the PC normally while it does its work.

But the tip you gave about changing the resource settings in XP are also very good! I will add that as a hint to the tutorial ( giving you credit of course ) so that people with slower machines get more power out of their pc.

blame my interpretation of the Google translator for my misunderstanding :D
The system resources so it is verb-guessed/advised not to be worked possible for DVDShrink during encoding the process completely normally with the PC.it does make you PC work as normal as if the DVDShrink ain't there. DVD95Copy is the worst CPU hog I think, along with IC's active window hogging it's annoying sometimes (nice excuse for an upgrade me thinks :D)

p.s. BEAT THIS THEN, not one handed, one fingered :) (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/temp/ctrl-alt-del.jpg)

p.p.s. any tips on when you start an app, it's automatically set to Low or BelowNormal?

Yeah, but in that case you'd either have to put your left hand in an awkward position or release the mouse with your right (assuming your right handed that is). :)

you cud use that one in the pic I posted as a second keyboard and just put it on the floor beside your foot :D, then you'd have both hands free

can't get better than that :D, or can you ?

Nope... you'd be hard pressed to do better than that :)

If you want to start an application with a lower priority you just have to do this :
start /priority "application name"
to know correct value for priority parameter tape start /? in a command prompt.
Ex : to start word with lowest priority (stupid but just example) in the icon properties just enter :
start /low winword.exe (if winword is in your path).
