why use frame selection can't be used with avi's

use frame selection options is grey with avi's. it's a fault in my installation or it is by design?
With dvd's it is selectable if i choose to use dvd ripping.

Frame selection only works with DVD's.
It may or may not be enhanced in the future to include AVI's, but as always with this program DVD conversion comes first.
