capture audio from DV with virtualdub or VirtuaVCR

HI,

I'm having a problem capturing video with VIrtualdub or virtualVCR from my DVcam, when plgugged with a firewire. With premiere it works fine. But in virtualdub or any other tools that lets you capture and compress the video on the fly, ther's no way to gert the audio; I capture the video, but no the audio because this tools can't recognize the DV cam as a source for capturing audio, it only let you choose your soundcard as a source. Anyone knows how to work with this programs to capture audio and video from a DV trough a firewire?

Normally I use the 'lightweight' approach of sending my DV through the firewire and capturing using DVIO, a free program. I once saw in a post it's in a sticky here, although I don't remember seeing it myself. :D Serves me well for video and audio alike.

Currently experiencing a bootload of dropped frames no matter what method, starting from the Sharp I have on loan while they're fixing my trusted Sony camcorder. But that, as they say, is another story.

I gave a try short ago DVIO and it worked really well, no droped frames at all. You can find it in the sticky.

It's not possible to capture DV through firewire using VirtualDub or VirtualVCR. These programs can be used for analogue captures, but not for digital video. Use a DV capture program (see "Links" sticky thread).
