Hey. I have 2 questions that I would like to ask. First, I was wondering if its completly normal that when I convert a DVD to SVCD, the audio is fine, but alot lower then on the DVD. Meaning that i gotta crank up the volume so that I can hear it properly. I know that the audio is compressed but I didn't think that would make it sound softer then the DVD volume.

Second, after I convert my DVD's to SVCD's, I transfer the .bin and .cue files to my other computer which has the burner in it. I have the 2 computers' networked together so I transfer the files over like that. Just wondering if this can give me errors in the SVCD? Or would there only be errors if windows actually poped up with an error when transfering the file? Is there some sort of packet checking windows does to ensure that the file completly stays intact when transfering so you know that the file transfered with no errors and it is identical?

You could try a search, about the best thing you can do is apply maximium gain in beSweet. But like I said, a search should help as this question has been asked before.

No this should not cause any errors in your svcd. If you are super-paranoid, open up a dos prompt and type in "fc path\to\movie1 path\to\movie1onOtherComputer". Of course you replace the path\to\movie1 with the actual path to the movies. This will compare the two files to make sure there are no differences. Note that this is a lengthy process. I suggest you just trust windows (yikes :)). Windows has verification while transferring to make sure the write bits are being written.

Hi-

I also create on one computer and burn on a different one. Although very rare, I have seen data get corrupted during the transfer over the LAN.

The best way I know to check is with QuickSFV (http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Mouse/4668/). You install it on both computers, and create the .sfv file on the one where the Bin-Cue was created (takes 30 seconds), send it along with the Bin-Cue, and then verify it when it gets to the other end (takes 30 seconds). It does a real quick CRC check. There's nothing worse than finding out later, after the original files have been deleted, that your SVCD is corrupted.

Well at this moment I just tried to use the search function and its down for some reason. I actually read up on this before I posted about not using the autodetect azid gain and placing a number in the azid gain offset box. I like to use the autodetect just so i'm sure the audio never is distorted. I was mainly interested to know if that happens to everybody where the audio ends up being noticeibly lower then the dvd, or is it just me. Thanks.
