The drive will not write discs.

It will read dvd’s and cd’s, but will not write dvd-r or cd’s. I’ve tried 3 different types of dvd-r discs and none of them will burn. I’ve used 3 different burning applications (all successfully used on the pioneer dvr-103 that I already have). I’ve tried it as a master and a slave drive on the secondary ide channel. I’ve put it in an external firewire box (like the one if have my 103 in). And I’ve tried multiple combinations of the above. Nothing will burn…the applications won’t even activate the “write” button for me to click.

does anyone have any ideas?

If a firmware update won't work then send it back and get a new one as this one seems to be faulty.

actually, i got it working.
spent two days shooting it with an M-16.
got fed up with it and dropped a MOAB on it and flattened the hard drive.
reinstalled xp.
it works fine now.

thanks for the reply.
