I was wondering how can one tell if its a DVD5 by just looking at???

Is that even possible???

Other then a two sided dvd, can one tell if its an one layer dvd disc?

ACTUALLY

i've noticed that a DVD-5 looks more like a regular audio cd, but a dual layer usually has kinda a gold/yellow tint to it. i haven't noticed any gold/yellow tint dvds that are DVD-5 instead of dvd-9, but occasionally (i think) i've seen some silver ones that are (not 100% sure). check it out and tell me if u notice!

ie--a good one to check is 'friday after next' because its dual sided and one side is single layer and one is dual layer...

If you look at the inner ring of the data side of the disc VERY closely, you should be able to see a manufacturer id/barcode printed there. If it is a dual layer disc, there will be two of these codes, one above the other. Usually one is followed by a 0 and the other is followed by a 1. If it is a single layer disc, there will be only one of these codes printed there. That's the most foolproof way that I know of to check if it's dual layer or not.
