Digital8 data= DV-data?

i am wondering if Digital8 uses exactly the same codec and compression-rate as miniDV, or are there differences?

Yes, all same to the PC. BTW, I am glad to hear you might be a fellow DV'er as I notice you are starting to write Avisynth plugins. We need a programmer on our side lol

yes i know it is the same for the PC, but is it the same data on tape? Or is the digital8 data converted to dv, when you transfer over firewire?

It's DV on a bigger tape.
