recordnow DX burning 4X at 30 minutes...why so slow?

i seem to be having problems with burning with recordnow max. i have version 4.6. also have a pioneer 4X DVD-RW. all discs seem to be burning at 2X, even my 4x ones. i have tried tweaking all the settings, but it seems to still burn at 2X. it starts out saying it will take 15 minutes, then 2 minutes into the burn, it always jumps up to 28-30 minutes. can anyone help?

Are you certain the discs are 4x rated?

Create an ISO in imgtools or something and then try various other programs.

To save yourself money wasting discs doing the testing, just enable 'simulation' or 'test' mode within the burning program first so that no data is actually written to the disc.

Do you have verify option enabled? Burning takes 15 min only. Verify takes another 15 so it would be total of 30 min.

yeah, i am positive that the discs are 4x, because they can burn at 4x on my friends burner. also, the burning itself takes 30 minutes, the verification takes another 30 minutes.
