View Full Version : VdubMod bug with Save Segmented AVI

I opened a bug about this a couple weeks ago on Sourceforge but was curious that no one had mentioned it here anywhere that I can find. So maybe it's just me.

Under Win/Me encoding Xvid with ac3 direct stream copy it seems the max segment size is pretty much ignored. This causes my HDTV encodings to crash at a 4 GB output file size.

Is it just me? Does Save Segmented AVI seem to work for anyone? Is there a trick to it?

I've used it successfully in previous releases of Vdub but not VirtualdubMod.

And can AVI's be > 4 GB if I switched to Win/XP or W2K? I guess then it wouldn't matter.

Don't know about the "Save segmented AVI" bug - didn't try yet.

AVIs can be of virtually any size when using NTFS file system if OpenDML is used (not the legacy AVI 1.0 spec). The operating system is not important; it must support NTFS, of course. Windows NT, Windows 2000, and Windows XP support NTFS (slightly different NTFS versions, but that doesn't matter for the AVI storing purpose). You can add NTFS support to Windows 98 / ME through third-party drivers (e.g. http://www.paragon-gmbh.com/f_ntfs.htm).

Okay, thanks.

I guess I'll finally put up XP.

XP service 2 incorp seems to be stable and doesnt get confused as often as when first released. I say it is now worth the upgrade.
