hello all!

i have a problem with the framerate conversion of a wave file.
My source wave has 23.980 fps while it should have 23.976 and thus creates desynches in the final svcd.
I tried using besweet with the -ota( -r 23980 23976 ) flag but besweet 1.4 and the latest 1.5b16 just produce a wave filled with random noise.
i then commenced to use ssrc to resample the framerate to 48008 and then changed the samplerate to 48khz with wavefix.
This produced satisfactory results for the first half of the movie,
yet in the second half it, again, gradually desynches :-/

i then tried wsola but it crashed.

Next attempt was to time stretch the wave with cool edit by 100.01668% while preserving the pitch. this resulted again in a constantly desynched movie.

i would appreciate any hints concerning this matter *sigh* :-)

If you have an ac3 5.1 file use azid to extract all six channels. Then use either cooledit pro or timefactory to stretch (or shorten) each wave as appropriate. When stretching I would use the length of the movie as a guide for how long to stretch the audio file; i.e., the movie is 1:30 the audio is 1:28 so stretch to 1:30.

Besweet will screw this up and give you popping etc. Now re-encode the six stretched files using Sonic Foundry Softencode 5.1.

Another thought would be to re-encode the video? I have not tried re-encoding the video to match audio so I am not sure if that would work; however, once you get both streams to sync I guess you can ran the result through CCE or TMPG to conform to 23.976 etc. Just a thought.

I guess the one thing that becomes clear is that this kind of conversion takes TIME!!!
