I use SmartRipper and DVDx. I have used this successfully to backup DVDs for sometime now. However I have never used it on DVDs for TV shows. That is what I need help with. I tried ripping and encoding a DVD for the TV show 24. The disc I was working on was 24_Season1_Disc 5. Each DVD contains 4 "chains" which I assume are the 4 separate episodes contained on the DVD if you play it. I can rip and encode Chain 1 fine. However, when I try ripping and encoding any of the other chains, I end up with the same audio/video from the Chain 1 episode. Obviously I am missing something here. How can I rip and encode the other episodes on the disc?

Use DVD Decrypter and just extract the whole PGC chain (or better still, if you are weary that something has been happening wierd, just decrypt the entire .vob files that that chain is contained in).

If you insist on using SmartRipper, make sure you obviously have the most current version and that you don't do stream processing.

I hope this can help.
