Like the subject says... and if you tell it to keep trying and it let go, it takes hours to rip the offending DVD and then the ripped VOB's will have weird color microblocks and it gets so bad it causes the video to skip/stutter. The DVD plays fine in PowerDVD and in my standalone unit.
I have run into 2 or 3 DVD's now that have done this.
Brotherhood of the Wolf being the last movie that just did this.
I even went and borrowed another DVD of this movie from a friend, and it gave the same problem.....

Just curious if anyone else has had this happen
Both DVD Decrypter and Smartripper have problems with it and DVD Decrypter being the one that can ignor the problem and take hours to get it ripped.

I've had similar experiences. As far as I know the problem is your DVD-drive, if you try it in another it may well work.
(I used my brothers everytime I had it happening to me (we're in a LAN))

As far as I know the problem is with how the DVD drive and your system interface through your IDE controller. I experienced the same thing with my previous system, never had it happen again with my current system.

So either upgrade your DVD drive or install a different IDE Controller.

Thanks!

I am using an old 5x Samsung SD-604. Guess its time to spring for a 16x now and retire this thing.
