After installing DVD decrypter it says that it found a 1x DVD drive and a 1x DVD-R drive. Both drives read at a better rate than 1x. Can anyone explain how to fix this or why its happening. thanks.

It says the same thing on mine, it doesn't matter.

Why wont it extract the dvd at the highest possible read rate that your dvd drive allows?

It does extract faster than what the startup info says. At least for me. I get from 2.5x to 5.5x. Make sure DMA is enabled, and if you browse in explorer before starting Decrypter it is usually faster as well.

Hi-

Why wont it extract the dvd at the highest possible read rate that your dvd drive allows?

Are you asking, for example, why your 16x DVD-ROM won't extract at 16x the whole way through? Ain't gonna happen. On a single layer disc, it'll slowly build up to that, and get close to there at the end, and average, maybe, 10-11x for the whole rip. For dual layer discs the speed may be half that. That's common.

Im guessing you guys are new to the program?!

Those figures are the NUMBER of drives it found, NOT the speed!

Hey Lightning UK,

I feel stupid, guess I never looked at it closely.

No probs. :)

You're not the first to think that, and you most certainly wont be the last!

perhaps use more descriptive messages:

<x>x DVD-ROM -> <x> DVD-ROM drive(s)

i find "DVD-ROM drive" more correct than just "DVD-ROM" if you refer to the drive itself. minor nit.

Ditto on fixing that message. I was "stupid" on that too a while back. Maybe Lightning does it on purpose to see how many "stupid" people finally figure out how to use DVDecrypter. :-)
