I have a few burnt DVD-R discs that refuse to read in my friend's and my DVD-ROM drive. It acts as if no disc has been inserted. All these discs were burned fairly recently and the rest of the batch are okay. They do read successfully in my DVD-R drive, however, a Pioneer A05. I reburned one of them, and it was fine. What could be causing the problem?

I just bought a stack of 100 G04 and I've burnt around 20 so far on my A05 with 3 that are completely unreadable in my DVD-Rom and stand alone players. One plays but it pixelates a lot. Same files burnt to another disc work fine. For the record all have been burnt at 4x with the exception of the one that pixelates, it was burnt at 1x (didn't have my default set to 4x and noticed after I started the burn).
Maybe it's a quality control issue on Ritek's part?

Are you using the latest A05 firmware? I use a DRU-500ax and it burns Ritek G04's beautifully. I do wonder if this is a burning issue rather than a media issue, since you say the 1x gets closer to success. Just a suggestion. I have also read that A05s are known to puke with some 4x Riteks.
