No Captions when speaking Elvish in Lord of the Rings

I have just been doing some tests with DVD's & trying to get the captions(subtitles) to appear on my ripped DVD's when selection Movie only.

For all those people that may have ripped "Lord of the rings" by doing just movie only - could you please check your finished DVD & let me know if you have the same problem.

Go to chapter 17 almost "1hour 6mins" in were Frodo is laying down dying from being stabbed & he first sees "beautiful Arwin the Elve" She speaks in Elveish to Frodo. In the original movie Subtitles appear in English but on the rip they do not.
Also check a little futher on when they are putting Frodo on the horse they speak Elvish again. No titles on my Rip.

I have tried a few different ways so far & it seems to be a problem even when ripping. I tried DVD Decrypter & Smartripper & if I select Movie only I don't get these titles in Playback.
If I select all files in DVD Decrypter I can play back the rip in Power DVD & I get these captions.

If I then use DVD2one in (Movie only mode) from the whole movie RIp on my HD I loose the captions again.

This also seems to affect other movies too. I did "The sum of all Fears" & sometimes they speak Russian & I don't get the captions which again are there on the original.

This dosn't seem to be a problem when doing a Whole DVD copy only when selection Movie only.

Does anyone know how to fix this in Movie only mode?

When transcoding these movies in DVD2ONE, are you keeping the english subtitles? I believe these are necessary for the translations to appear.

This also happens before running through DVD2one with the ripped files from DVD Decrypter.

I thought I tried to keep all English Subtitles with "The Sum of all fears" & it didn't work.

I will try again.

Came across that once. I cant remember exactly but I had to keep a subtitle like [iw] or something like that. Sorry I cant be more precise as I cannot remember the exact movie where I had the problem. What it is, is a special subtitle which appears irrespective of whether you have subtitles turned on or not. It is usually where the dialog is suddenly in a different language than the original movie. If you dont keep that subtitle, then you HAVE to turn on english (or whatever language) that you want. If you do keep that subtitle then it comes on automatically. Probably safest to keep all the subtitles. Unlike soundtracks they do not take much space anyway.

Search the forum for “forced subtitles” (mainly in IfoEdit & Authoring) and you will find guides and quite a few threads dealing with the subject how to re-instate disabled forced subtitles.
