Contribution: A guide in french.

This post is mainly intended to french guys at doom9.
I just finished writing a quick guide dedicated to DVD conversion.
Initially written for friends, I think it can interrest a larger audience:

- It's a complete guide from DVD ripping to XCD burning
- It's in french
- It's targeted to newbies (but a guide always is, no ?)
- It described how to use Xvid, Vorbis and Ogg container.

Don't get upset, I'm not at all advertising: I won't even dare to give a link here, neither I will to anyone asking for it in this forum. Really it's not the point at all.
I just though it could be an interresting link to add to links on Doom9 french site as there's not plenty of good guides in this language.
So I will wait for a moderator to answer my post, if interrested I'll give him the link so that it can check if my guide deserve or not to be linked.
One more time, as some people may come very nervous sometimes, I don't want to advertise, I don't want to make money, I don't want anything ... I just want to contribute :)

Nothing misterious, I just wanted to point out that there is an french Doom9 translation for all those that don't know.

I don't have anything against it that you (or anyone else) post links to guides, if it's in limits and the guides are original and not stolen and the site is free accesible (no pay only etc.).

BTW, your link gives me the "Cannot find server" thingy :) .

As it's free I cannot afford a good host, so the link maybe down from time to time ... I'll try to find a better one.

i've just read through your guide an have to say that it seems to be very comprehensive (at least as far as i can tell with my far from perfect french knownledge)
the screenshots are numerous and well made.
the only issue is that this might just not be an excellent starting guide for complete newbies as it is kept a little short for those - just in my eyes of course. anyway i don't even know if it was intended for this audience!

You are true this is not inteded to real newbies but rather to guys willing to drop their combo pack and get in trouble with some serious tools :)
About GKnot 0.28 I totally agree with you, but not for the same reason: AFAIK GKnot 0.28 does forbid crop by odd numbers with used with YV12 mpeg2dec3.dll wich is certainly a great deal for ppl not aware of such a limitation ...
Anyhow I will modify this as soon as now, and add an ogg chaptering page by the way.

GKnot is limited to cropping in even numbers because it is generally a BAD idea to crop in odd numbers. Even though not every colorspace requires this limitation, many Avisynth filters will choke on odd cropping. To avoid your encodes coming out with unexplainable artifacts you should stick to this even cropping at all times, not just with YV12.
