Hi!
When writing to CD-R media with my A05, the drive spins up several time before the burn process starts (or anytime when accessing an empty CD-R media). Any idea, why?

I'm prety sure there's a firmware update that fixes that. Someone else with an A05 should be able to comfirm.

Which burning software are you using?

I'm using Nero 5.5.9.14.

Usually it is an issue with ASPI layer and how burning software uses it, but sometimes also may be result of firmware interface. This is nothing critical but may be annoying.

The best approach to get rid of it is to update the ASPI layer (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe) and Nero to 5.5.10.15a or at least Nero ASPI Manager (ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll) if that does not help (it should, at least it did for me) try updating firmware.
