Any Amcap users out there?

Hi everybody.
What I would like to know is can one select a compression codec in amcap? I tried everything, but can't seem to be able to do it.
There are only a few programs I can use for capture, because my card doesn't support higher resolution in the more popular ones.
I use Mgi videowave and amcap wich both have the same problem. Can't compress with huffyuv.(or with any other codec). I can capture with both at any resolution I want, without dropped frames, but the files are huge. 1+ Gb per min.
Recently I got virtualVCR, and I can capture at high res, but it has a different problem. I doesn't keep the framerate. I set it at 29.97 fps, but it capture most of the time at over 30fps. And I get async files.
I know mgi and amcap capture uncompressed avi. I used virtualvcr with huffyuv, and the files were much smaller.

So is there anything I can do about the size in amcap or the framerate in virtualvcr?

I really need some help. And I would appreciate any sugestions.

OK, well I don't know about your card. But I do know a little something about VirtualVCR :)

Just so you know, you MUST set "Resample Audio Dynamically" on or else your captures will desync terribly, even with 0 drop frames. I don't know why you're getting 30+ FPS, is that really a bad thing? Or are you using a 'picky' codec (SVCD) or trying to merge video?

Now, there was a thread earlier about how no WDM capture progs actually *keep* the framerate properly. The only one that does it is AVI_IO - you can record a bunch of clips and merge them in VirtualDub without having to worry about the framerate matching - it WILL be 29.9700, not 29.970054 or 29.970032. The thread said that even AVIs captured in VirtualDub itself won't pass this little test, and that Avery Lee even addressed it once.

So, in conclusion, use AVI_IO for perfect framerates, or tinker with VVCR a little more for acceptable framerates. Or just keep it the way it is. Hell, if I drop one or two frames, it's not ruining the entire capture... so I don't really care if my framerate is 29.97 on the dot.

you're not alone. There are MANY users out there that STILL don't
know about vdub's OTHER framerate setting (used for exact framerate)

ok, in short, all you have to do is, in vdub:
* go to bottom right of vdub's window, and where you normaly see the
..audio - framerate - size/s, click and select from the pulldown,
..the middle button. and select the exact 29.97 (actually it is
..29.970 fps) as that is what WILL show up in vdub, once you've
..captured and then opended in vdub's time-line window.

When you do File/Information.. you'll see that vdub shows the
29.970 frame rate !!

I tried Avi_io too, but like the other programs, won't let me capture at higher res than 320x240.
As for the framerate, the problem is it gets way out of sync. Mabe I'll be able to fix it in avisynth, I don't know. But Mgi and amcap, keep the framerate pretty close, and never had sync problems.
Just cap last night a 2 hour movie with VVcr, the framerate was somewhere around 31 fps. No drop frames. I used huffyuv, the size was good (60GB), but out of sync.
BTW my card is Msi Tv@nywhere.
I'll probably get another card if I can't get around these problems.

The thing is I'm not using vdub. I can't use it because of the resolution limitation. My card doesn't support res higher than 320x in vdub and many other programs. So I'm stuck with these 3 programs. Actually there's another one, iuVcr, but that is out of the question because of the massive frames drop.
