Ifoedit DVD authoring crashing?

Hi all I'm having troubles getting DVD authoring in Ifoedit to work. It crashes every time I hit the ok button.

Here is what I did.

I'm trying Femme Fatale. I normally use rempeg but it crashes every time I get to 91 percent when I open the cffl file. So I ran the vob through dvdtoavi and extracted the ac3 file and then ran the video through tmpeg and and got my m2v file. Now when I open Ifoedit and try to DVD Author. I open the video file and the audio file, when I hit ok ifo edit crashes. It happens regardless of what directory and if I add the chapter file in there. I really have no clue what could be wrong and am having a hard time finding anyone else that might of had a problem. Plesae any help is greatly appreciated.

Why don't you try to use DVD2ONE? it will solve all your problems, instead of using rempeg wich takes about 6 hrs to compress the movie, this software takes about 25 minutes to compress the video, and tu multiplex the audio and subtitles you want to use, try it, is the best software i have ever used and the video quality is amazing.

Just got done with Femme Fatale 10 minutes ago using DVD95Copy 1.3 with extras set to 40%. I kept only English 5.1 audio and subtitles. Looks great!

I finally got it to work in IFOedit but it plays extremely jerky.

I'm gonna check out what you guys said right now. I did however get it to play smooth as silk with Spruceup.

I've not realy an idea why IfoEdit crashes in your case, but I had problems including the chapters in the authoring function of IfoEdit.

The problem was: start frames of the chapters have to be I-frames, but TMPGEnc chages the GOP-structur of the MPEG so the chapter points dosn't match any longer. You have to use the TMPG-template of IfoEdit to write the GOP-structure of the original MPEG to a file and load this in TMPGEnc. I don't know if you have already done this!?

What have you done to get IfoEdit work in the end?

I figuered out that when I was using tmpeg I was re-encoding it with video and audio button selected not the video only button. That was why ifo edit authoring was crashing. But I still have not gotten ifoedit to work without it being choppy. I have used dvd2one now a few times and boy does it save serious time. I think I'll be using this more often. But I sure would like to know why ifoedit authored my video so jerky. I didn't use the ifoedit template in tmpeg. Maybe that will have to be something I try later. But then again the same m2v file played perfect after I ran it through spruceup. Go figure?

Oh well dvd2one seems to be working good so I'll stick to that for a while.

I used ifoedit and Instant Copy to create a movie-only dvd-r of Femme Fatale that fits in approx 4.35 GB. It started out at over 5.5 GB with three audio streams. Ifoedit was loaded with the movie's ifo file, and it was told to strip out the French audio stream and subtitles. However, the most important thing that ifoedit did was to generate a clean VIDEO_TS.IFO file that IC could accept. In IC, the F5 key was used to force re-encoding for a 4.5 GB target size (slightly over the max size for a dvd-5). A pdi utility was invoked to extract the vob and ifo files. Primo was used to burn the resulting files.

Anyone who tries to author one dvd-5 consisting of all the vobs in Femme Fatale is sacrificing PQ. I think the movie is far more important than the extras (which seem to total over 2 GB).
