16:9 Menus Cut Off on 4:3 TV

It seems that after I'm done using IFOEdit to rip what I want off the dvd the menus aren't played right on my set top players. They display with a good amount on the left and right side cut off. Its not playing at the right aspect ratio. The main movie is this way too. Is there any way I can fix this so that it will play correctly on 4:3 TVs and 16:9 TVs as well? I guess I don't understand how this is happening in the first place either. :-/

Any tips on this would be appreciated.

There are some standalone players that have settings that control the aspect ratios over your DVD. You might want to look into this. Also, go to both of your original and backup movie menu's IFO / VTS Overview / Menu attributes: / Video and compare that your backup is set up exactly the same as your original.
