I'd go for Ritek. Ritek G03 are the only halfway usable cheap disks (G04 are way better though and qualify for 4x writing whereas G03 doesn't even qualify for 2x writing).

Just to add some spice: I've had consistenly good results with Optodisc, but to may shame I have to admit I've never touched a Ritek in my life.

well damnit!

why do you guys say ritek is the best. is there any proff or tests that show the greater compatibilty between the two? cuz i also have heard that optodisc is very good.

In fact there is... c't (the best German computer mag) did extensive testing where the Riteks came out best of the cheap media.

stick with ritek!

i just bought a spindle of 50 optodisc (branded and blue) from rima.com. about 1/3 of them have concentric scratches at the outer 1/6th of the disc -- talking about quality control  . data verification with "verify on" in nero and dvd-decrypter after burning reveal read errors at the end of the discs. returning them back to rima would be more expensive than the discs are worth :sly: .

anyway, just out of fun, i ordered a 2nd spindle of 50, but this time the golden ones, and they seem to be ok so far... i don't know if those undergo a more rigorous quality control, but just the experience with the first batch certainly doesn't give me a lot of confidence in the optodisc brand...

i haven't checked other threads, yet (since i just bumped into this one), but has anyone tested the 4x princos (available at allmediaoutlet)? not that i have confidence in princos (gosh, no!), but i think it takes a certain degree of die quality to produce 4x dvd-rs, right?
