Minor Deinterlacing Problems with Virtualdub

Heya folks,

A long time ago, maybe a year, I read a guide on doom9 explaining how I needed to choose "Blend Fields Together(Best)" from the Deinterlace Filter and that I should use "Reconstructive from Fields:Adaptive" from Video-Framerate in Virtualdub.

It turns out that even though most people have no problems with interlacing every now and then small portions of my encode will not be deinterlaced properly.

Can you folks please inform me what I am doing incorrectly or if anything has been left out? I've had this problem for some time, and the encodes look generally good, but if I could get this figured out then I would be much better off.

I suppose that the best way to describe it would be like saying that when there is movement on the screen ( whether the entire screen moving or even someone's lips ), for a moment it will seem as though it's not deinterlaced at all. In the example with the moving lips you may see the mouth's outline may seem rather jagged and only displaying correctly on every other line.

To sum it all up every now and then there are small portions of the video that dont appear to be deinterlaced at all. Comparable to what you would see if you ripped a DVD without deinterlacing for small bursts.

If you can recommend a Direct-X compatable screenshot program I could give an example.

What deinterlacer and settings are you using?

The built in deinterlace filter from Virtualdub, with the settings provided above. "Blend fields together ( best )". and "Adaptive".
