View Full Version : Removing VOB ID in Single VOB ID PGC?

I'm dealing with a multi-pgc VOB. I'd like to remove the opening studio splash that is contained in one of the PGCs; however, it is the only VOB ID that is contained in that particular VOB. I'm wondering if there's a guide around that deals with the removal procedure in such an instance. I've removed VOB IDs before but only from PGC's with multiple VOB ID's. I tried it by merely removing the VOB ID but it didn't work; the movie never plays -- it just stalls at the ponit when the studio splash would have been introduced.

Many thanks...

You can bypass this if you go to your VTS_*_0.IFO / VTS_PGCITI / VTS_PGC_1 / PGC Command Table , edit the “Number of Pre Commands” value as value plus “Number of Post Commands” value. Edit by double left clicking on value and enter sum value.

Example:

OLD > Number of Pre Commands 1
OLD > Number of Post Commands 1

NEW > Number of Pre Commands 2

The Post Commands gets shifted up and changes into Pre Commands.

Hopefully, there is no solid "Break" Pre-Command present.

2Cool,

Yupper, it worked. Can you tell me what that actually did -- sorry for being a bit in a quandry?

Is there a way to remove a VOB ID from a single ID PGC? I suspect I'm going to run across this situation again and there may not be a simple way out. Don't you attempt to explain it, though. I don't want to take your time. If you know of a thread or guide, just point me in that general direction.

Many thanks...

No problem. As I explain it to you, others will understand too.

Pre Commands are commands executed before your PGC (Program Chain) video plays and Post Commands are executed when it's done. Up to 128 navigation commands total can be executed in the PGC Command Table. So by doing the change of value above, you pretty much bypass the PGC and you immediately start executing the Post Commands which has jump commands to navigate to where it needs to go. Cell commands, if present, are executed when the Cell contents are accessed like in Menus. Only a single nagivation command can be associated with a Cell.

Now about the Break Command. If a Break is encountered in a Pre Command area, the player will terminate the execution of any remaining Pre Commands, and starts to display the content stored in the PGC. Well, if you had one present after doing the new value, you are bypassing any jumps in your former Post Commands. We don't want that to happen. So, if you do have one, you may have to resort to another method like in this guide.
Disabling/Bypassing Unwanted Titles (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48566)

I hope this clears things up.:)

BTW, any guide I can give on the method above brings you back to me as I think I'm the only one, to my knowledge, that uses that method. I've mentioned it a few times in some threads.

2COOL, I see you are very advanced with Ifoedit so could you look at this guide and see if you can see anything that could be improved

http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/ifoedit.htm

I know you can get around this by bypassing the playing of the VOB, but what if the VOB's large and some people may prefer to get rid of the VOB rather than leave it

it's simple for me to follow that guide but I'm thinking more for the newbies and maybe there is an even easier way to replace a single VOB ID VOB

cheers

The situation I had was that the single VOB ID PGC was a component of a multi-PGC VOB and a member of a title set.

VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
VTS_01_3.VOB <== Had the single VOB ID PGC in this multi-PGC VOB
VTS_01_4.VOB

@MisterX

Your guide is great but wouldn't apply here, right. (I actually did read it before posting my question.) You're dealing with a single VOB ID PGC in a single PGC VOB.

If you wanna get rid of all the program/cells from a PGC within a multi PGC, I just use Guide # 7 (http://www.deano.dsl.pipex.com/backup/ifoedit7.htm)

take it out if you don't wannit, I say :)

dunno if you seen it tho

2COOL's probably got a quicker/better way to get rid of the stuff you don't want cos I only based my example on a 2 PGC VOB and it's worked just fine for DVD Maniac using IC and his 007 DVD's which had 5 PGC's and he only wanted so much of them and the others took up valuable space

I may fine tune them when I come across a better example
