I'm posting here because it's such a newbie question (and I should have the answer), but I have to make sure...

Using DVD2DVD-R, I'm trying to encode the movie portion of XXX (4:3).
Bitrate viewer shows:

Num. of picture read: 31
Stream type: MPEG-2 MP@ML VBR
Resolution: 720*480
Aspect ratio: 4:3 Generic
Framerate: 29.97
Nom. bitrate: 9800000 Bit/Sec
VBV buffer size: 112
Constrained param. flag: No
Chroma format: 4:2:0
DCT precision: 10
Pic. structure: Frame
Field topfirst: Yes
DCT type: Frame
Quantscale: Nonlinear
Scan type: ZigZag
Frame type: Progressive

DVD2DVD-R's Input/Output screen shows the framerate being 29.97FPS as well and suggests having 'Upper field first' on. The main question is...should I use the 'Force Film' option since it truly IS a 23.976FPS stream AND if I DO enable it, should I enable 'Drop frame' in addition to '2:3 pulldown' ?

I tried The Bourne Identity with the default suggestions of DVD2DVD-R and the video was WAAAAAY off. It was apparently running @ 29.97 vs. the actual 23.976FPS.

I'll try XXX with Progressive, Linear and ZigZag ON and see how that turns out. I'd appreciate the help/suggestions.

Re-encoded the movie (XXX) with Progressive, Zigzag and Linear on. Seemed to be fine at first, but the farther the movie goes along the more out-of-sync the video is to the audio. The video is now behind the audio by about 1 second.
Is there something else I can try so the damn audio syncs with the video?

I found my own answer: DVD2DVD-R 1.4.5

Tested XXX with Progressive, Linear, ZigZag, Force Film, 2:3 Pulldown and Set 'Progressive'-flag all ON. Worked just fine and dandy (good thing it now incorporates DVD2AVI now).

I'll be happy with this app now =)

I take that back...

**UPDATE*** Using DVD2DVD-R 1.4.5, XXX and Godfather are both screwing up on me. The extra works perfectly (done with IC), but the Main movie's first chapter plays, then about 5-10 seconds into every chapter AFTER the fitst, the movie with sound stutters, then freezes up entirely. I can skip/scan back and forth, but again, after 5-10 seconds it freezes up again. Happens no matter WHERE it is in the movie OTHER than the first chapter. Secondly, the timer on the movie is off/broken.

Here are the settings for DVD2DVD-R:
XXX
Aspect ratio: 4:3
DCT Precision: 10
iDCT Algorithm: 32-bit MMX SSE2 (P4 processor)
Encoder mode: VBR 3-passes
Bitrate: 0, 2144, 7340 (low, avg, high)
MB Reserved (extras): 1830MB

Encoder options (what is checked)
Progressive frames
Linear Quanitizer scale
Zigzag scanning order
Force Film
2:3 Pulldown
Set 'Progessive'-flag

Quantizer characteristics: 5
Multiple VBR Bias: 20
GOP Sequence: M=3 N/M=4

Avisynth (Using MPEGDEC2.DLL)
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\DVD2DVD-R\MPEG2DEC\MPEG2DEC2.dll")
MPEG2Source("C:\XXX\Video_0xE0.d2v")
ResampleAudio(44100)

Tested The Godfather NTSC with 1.4.6 and I'm still having issues.

Used same settings as above except with *Set 'Drop Frame'-flag* checked.

The movie plays fine if I let it play from the beginning (The Godfather starts by itself) all the way to the end without pausing, stopping, skipping forward/back or skipping/reversing chapters. As soon as I do ANY of the previously mentioned things, 6 seconds of the movie will play, then either stutter and freeze, or just freeze outright.

What happens on my player (Pioneer 5-disc changer) is as soon as the timer passes 7 seconds, it never moves unless I fast-forward the movie. Also, there is a 'Digital' LED for the sound that turns off when the movie stutters/freezes.

Has ANYONE else had this issue?
Movie is NTSC, Film.
