'NTSC Divx to PAL VCD, probs with avisynth

I know that this topic has been mentioned many times in these forums, but not being very advanced with DVD2SVCD or any of the programs realted to it, I can't understand any of the attempted solutions. I want to change NTSC divx or xvid, to PAL VCD (not SVCD) so that I can watch it in my PAL standalone dvd player. I set all the options that I need, including the NTSCtoPAL option, but mainly I leave the options as they are, because they are all practically right. Then I set off the DVD2SVCD and in the preview screen as it is doing everything, that irritating Avisynth violation comes up, saying that there is an error, and it happens right from the start so I never see any video in the preview thing. Now, Ive looked around these forums, but I cant find a solution. Please could anyone help me with this problem using simple terms so that I can understand what to do. I tried doing it all my self using guides on the internet - ie. ripping the audio, converting it with besweet, extracting the video, and changing the frame rate as well as changing it to mpeg-1. Then I tried to put the Mp2 and the MPV files together, but it never worked. Can anyone help me, a pathetic newbie of making VCDs? Thanks for any help.

OK. 2 things

1. Avisynth errors - probably source related ie crap avi file.

Download DivFix from Doom9 downloads and do an error check on your file. You will probably find it is corrupted. If this is a legal internet download from a website, try to redownload the file. (Note we are not here to help regarding warez.)

2. NTSC to PAL conversion can introduce problems and is usually totally unnecessary. Just because your DVD player output is PAL that doesn't mean it won't play NTSC VCD's. Most PAL players do this just fine.

Download this http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/examples/demovcd/v0.3/ntsc/demovcd-ntsc.zip
unzip it and burn the bin/cue image to a CDR or CDRW (if your player will play RW's it saves you wasting a disc) and try it in your player. It is an NTSC VCD sample. My bet is it will play just fine. If so, it is best to leave the NTSC to PAL option unchecked.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I did the divfix check, and indeed it was very corrupted. I re downloaded the file for the legal site and it was the same. Is there anything that will fix these corruptions? Because the actual file plays fine on windows media player. Thanks again,

try to open it with virtualdub,check direct stream copy on both audio & video, then save it again with different name
