As far as burning CDs, is anybody using these two products together? I've been using Easy CD Creator 4.05 with a prior CD burner with no problems. However, I recently upgraded to a Pioneer DVR-105 and now the same software freezes immediately after launching. I reinstalled the software with no luck and haven't found any updates/patches on the support page.

Is version 4.x simply incompatible with Pioneer's latest drive?

Arghhh. Adaptec's Easy CD Creator is one bitch of a CD writing app. I highly recomend you get rid of it and install a different burning app.

Actually, prior to this, Easy CD Creator has been wonderful at burning CDs. Easy to use and no coasters which is why I would like to continue using it with my new Pioneer drive. However, if it is incompatible, I may have to move on to Nero.

Adaptec/Roxio EasyCD Creator does not support DVD Video prior to version 6, called Easy CD & DVD Creator. Version 6 showed a lot of problems in general even with the stuff that used to be impeccable in prior versions. So don’t even try to use it for DVD compliant video. Version 5 can be safely used for DVD Data with some minor issues concerning multi-border (multi-session) disks.

I think you may have misread my initial post. I intend to use Easy CD Creator v4.05 only for burning CDs, not DVDs. In fact, v4.05 doesn't support DVD burning at all.

I use Ulead's DVD Workshop for DVD burning and have had no problems.

Pioneer DVR series is supported from EasyCD Creator version 5 onwards, for either CD or DVD (data) burning. For DVR-105 it’s actually from V5.3.1.xxx (see http://rpp.roxio.com/drives/?page=supported_drives&ltr=P). There is no drive support available (nor it will ever be) for V4.x for any of the DVRs.

You can use Nero 5.5+, RecordNow (or Prassi), EasyCD 5.3+ and many others, for CD burning and they will become pretty handy when you decide to burn DVD data, too.

I think I'll switch over to Nero. I downloaded their latest trial version and it worked fine with the DVR-105. The full version is also significantly cheaper than a new EasyCD Creator.

Thanks for all the replies.
