need help converting vbr to cbr

Hi, i have a xvid movie i have dowloaded of the net and it has mp3 audio vbr, when i played it on my kiss dp-450 dvd player it stopped at certain points of the movie, and it was unwatchabel, when i try and use the time search function (jump to a certain part of the movie) the movie and audio are never in sync.

the kiss team have told me that mp3 cbr works alot better than vbr and will allow me to jump to certain parts of the movie with having the movie and audio in sync, so i need help on how i can do this.

if you can give me a step by step guide would be most apreciated!! on converting vbr to cbr with keeping the movie and audio in sync.
