Please can someone help me?
I have a DVD+R/RW burner and 2 Samsung DVD players. The discs I burn do not play on the standalone players but DVD- media does.
I have read on another website that if I try different recording methods (currently DVDdecrypter, DVD2one and nero) that I can overcome this problem.
Does anyone have any suggestions or have come across the same dilema?
My discs work fine on my pc dvd player so I know something is going correctly.
Thanks.

not every standalone player is compatible with every dvd-r/rw media
befor you throw your "coasters" away try them on standalones from different brands... probably your standalone won't take any writeable media...

if you use the same method of burning for the dvd- and the dvd+ disc it must be a media problem.
you can look here http://www.dvdplusrw.org/resources/compatibilitylist_dvdvideo.html for a list od dvd+ compatible player.
theres also a utility that allows you to change the booktype of your dvd+r/dvd+rw to dvd-rom wich may improve compatibility. you can also do this with the newest nero under "dic info".

I have tried 2 other standalone players and they seem fine (both different manufacturers. I have also checked the compatability list and both my players are on it as OK.
I am unsure what the book type is that u refer to. Please could u enlighten me. Sorry if this seems basic but I am very new to this sort of thing.
Thanks again.

a dvd player can identify the type of a dvd by using the "Book Type Field" on a dvd. it shows if the dvd is dvd-rom,dvd+rw,dvd-r or whatever.
some older dvd players may not know the newer settings for dvd+rw or dvd+r and so they dont even TRY to read from them.
so by changin the setting to dvd-rom you fool your player and maybe it is able to read your dvds.
that doesnt work with all burners, my nec nd1000a does not allow this (or nero doesnt know how to do it :( )
