New to GordianKnot

Well I figured out how to make .avi files from the DVD's but I can't figure how to make it work when I put it on a CD. Also, is there a way to get the menu stuff at the beginning of the movies (in either the .avi or the ones that go on CD).

Well, as far as I can tell, you just put the CD in your computer, open the CD window, double click on the .avi and it plays. No big deal really.

And GKnot don't do any menus, just the main movie.

You can do this after gnot has completed encoding the avi. There are programs to set up menus and chapters but you have to use specific players. Search on avi menus and chapters and you will find more info.

there is no real way to put a dvd menu into an .avi! even if it could work the file would be much too big.

You can try some premade menus, which dont look like dvd menus or you can try to make a flash/director menu! for the last one look here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=34129)!

What I meant by 'put it on CD' was that I want to make it playable on my DVD player not just from the computer.

I thought so. Do yourself a favour, and look at the top of the newbies forum, read the stickies, and proceed to the DVD2SVCD section. GKnot is not useable for producing anything but AVI's which aren't playable in most DVD standalones.
