Firstly I am sorry about posting this in this section of the forum coz i just could not figure if this was a hardware or software prob.

Ok I have a big problem
I brought a seagate 80Gb about a year ago and my comp at that time would not recognise it as 80Gb but as 10Gb,2Gb or 1Gb sometimes. Well finally I gave up and installed Winme and when in explorer it showed me 30 Gb Fat 32 limit. Well then came Xp which I could not resist but knew my pc was gonna be too slow for it, but i had to check it out, anyway I installed it. To my surprise I could access the other 45 or so Gb so i installed it Dual boot. So now i had winme on 30Gb and Winxp on 45Gb partition. Installed new Bios update for my motherboard. I installed Sp1 after a while and found my Pc does not crash at all for a month and decided to do a clean install of xp only-biggist mistake.
Well backed up most of my stuff and went on to start installing from the Winxp procorp
Pc boots up using the Cd winxp
setup detects 76Gb Hard drive
Asks me if I want to format NTFS, fat 32 etc and I choose Ntfs(Itried all) well it formats the hard drive and copies install files and asks 15sec to reboot
Pc reboots and starts detects hard drives, cdrw, dvd drive next screen "verifying something"
"Error loading operating system" now this has been the case no matter what i do to install xp. Now if i try to install winme it installs fine. Now my bios(after the update) recognizes the hard drive as 80Gb but i still cant install Xp. The funny thing is it says 80GB then I reboot install winme , reboot couple of times or even the first time the bois says 32 Gb again but in Explorer now my hard drive is 32Gb I used partition magic and found out 45GB unparttioned so i partitioned it. I even tried doing a dual boot but even that does not work anymore.
Another funny thing is i thought bioses recognise hard drives at their original capacity in this case should be some 76Gb but mine recognises it as 80Gb and then switches to 32GB. Now i am wondering why thats happening after it has already said it 80GB, and why the bios thinks its 80 and not 76Gb? :confused:
I know you must be confused but i need help. After trying all combinations and about 25 different ways and formatting I am turning to u guys to help me out.
Oh yeh forgot completely after doing all this i wanted to back up winme with all drivers loaded up with Ghost 2003 and guess what the same prob but this time no message nothing. I has to use fdisk and chage the primmary which ghsot had changed just to boot up in winme. When in winme saw 2 more partions but i deleted then coz the backup had stuffed up anyway.
