Does this program taint codecs or video files?

I have a karaoke program that did work fine. I open the program and open a karaoke file and then a second window opens with just the words. I normally would slide this second window over to a second monitor/tv with my dual head video card. Upon installing dvd2svcd and power dvd programs which I am converting music videos to mpeg1 and using my karaoke program to play the mpeg1's, I now have a newly created problem that my karaoke program will not play the words (graphis) on the second frame at all. I disabled all my 2nd monitor part of my video card and just tried to play it on my monitor. All I get is a blank screen but the music plays fine. This program worked perfectly before installing the two dvd programs. I upgraded to directx 9, reinstalled my karaoke program and eliminated power dvd. The only thing I did not eliminate is dvd2svcd mainly because of all the settings I changed. Any ideas or comments are appreciated.

The only known past problem was with the first release of Divx5. Once 5.01 came out this problem went away as far as I know. It was directly related to the avisynth file and was a known problem even with avisynth alone.

As far as I know the only dll that is system wide is the avisynth file. The rest are only active upon the program being launched.

You are the first since Divx 5 first release that I know of to have a possible connecting problem. With the number of visitors here it seems unlikely to be an issue with DVD2SVCD, but not impossible.

I'll have to see which version I received in the bundle download. I assume it should be Divx5.

Power DVD leaves behind a lot of stuff if I remember correctly. I remember I uninstalled it for some test I was doing but when I ran regedit and did a search through the registry there were tons of entries still there. Take this with a grain of sand, as I might have installed and uninstalled other cyberlink programs during this same period. As mark said, DVD2SVCD is fairly benign in what it installs. It also tends to uninstall itself cleanly so you could always try that. Besides Avisynth, DVD2SVCD also installs the huffy codec, but I don't believe this could possibly cause any problems or interference. If I had to make a bet I would look at powerDVD (great program).

It was the Power DVD, thanks. I switched over to WinDVD (by Intervideo)and now have no problems.
