I've followed all of MisterX's guides and settings, no "butchering" of anything, not even remove subtitles or audio streams. I even set the menu to 100%.
BUT, it always crashes at 98% with only ~70MB left to go!
Anyone ever get this thing to work, and if so, what settings did you use?
thanks!

I think I might have narrowed down the problem. See this thread (titled: Instantcopy Users Please Read This) about the IC size issue it has with some inputs.
I need to check the last .pdi file to see where it bombs. I wish I hadn't just deleted them :( Oh well, another hour to go now.

I had the same problem as you. For that title, I just used Ifoedit to rip what I didn't want, and sent it through DVD95Copy instead. I would have preferred IC, but since the source is bad anyway, DVD95Copy looks pretty darn good- comparatively..

I can't figure out why IC doesn't like this title. It keeps crashing at about 98% during the last part of the credits. I've checked and there is no long black sequence.
One thing though, I can't get IC, even following MisterX's steps, to recognize the size of the movie correctly. I'm very certain that this is why it crashes.
Anyone have any luck with IC and getting it to do a full back up?

which titleset is it crashing on?
is it the movie titleset?
it tells you in the pic
when you say 98% is when it crashes, is that 98% overall (TOTAL bar) or for that video title (TRACK BAR)?
If it is on the movie titleset, IC doesn't work on the video it shows it's actually ahead of what it's showing on the preview screen if you have it
it's also ahead of what it's produced in the PDI files when it crashes, so you must look at what is after that
it may be crashing on another piece of video
try processing it but deselecting the movie title then you can isolate the problem if it doesn't crash

Its VTS 7 that it crashes on which is the main movie.
~98% is both that VTS and the total.
Ah, I will check a little ways after the crash point in the original VTS to see if there is a stretch of blank screen. The futurama that I had a crash on was during a blank section that I fixed with IfoEdit.
If it wasn't the main movie, I would bypass the VTS, but in this case I can't skip it. I can't see a break in the .ifo file either, looks to be within one vobid that also has some of the end credits. :( I could get rid of the last couple of vobid's, but I would like to keep a complete backup if possible.

use ifoedit and double click the last few entries to preview the video and you will see what is causing the grief and see if it's an option that you can remove the offending scene

That's what I was doing and the point I was looking at ~1:27 (if my memory is correct) is in the middle of a vobid. I'll try and capture that section of the ifo and post it later today to show you what I'm looking at.

Please don't post an ifo file, exchange it privately to work out the problem.

I'd say yes, and any snippet of a file, like the pre or post commands. Actually text would be preffered due to the size of images, we just got uploads working again, which were disabled due to a disk quota.

I was going to post just the section of the ifo that shows the PGC in question. Not a full copy of the complete ifo. Is that okay?

Okay, here is the update. I finally broke down and just used DVD95copy. It worked with no problems. The source material is not the best, so compression quality didn't play into the backup much.
I'm not spending any more time on this title, but I bet the problem was the "long black screen bug" that IC has.
