Using the latest beta I get a crash:

It crashes before it begins transcoding.
I've tried several ways of listing files (tried plain filenames, quotes, no quotes), but with no luck.

Only workaround for me is to decompress to WAVE files and encode them from there.

I just tried using this list file with BeSweet 1.5b16:

the.ring.dvdrip.cd1.xvid-deity.avi
the.ring.dvdrip.cd2.xvid-deity.avi

When I start besweet it immidiatly crashes. The log file looks like this:

Hi,

I downloaded

BeSweet 1.5b16 (http://dspguru.notrace.dk/BeSweetv1.5b16.zip)
VOBInput.dll v 1.3 (http://dspguru.notrace.dk/VOBInput.zip)
Azid.dll 1.8 (http://mitglied.lycos.de/darkav/download/azid_dll-1.8.rar)

Unpacked all files in in C:\temp\BeSweet

Tried to convert a VOB-file to mp3 - which works fine:

C:\temp\BeSweet>C:\temp\BeSweet>besweet -core ( -input 01.VOB -output 01.mp3 -logfile test.log )

The log file looks like this:

I then created the file C:\temp\BeSweet\vobs.lst with the following line
in it:

C:\temp\BeSweet\01.VOB

(as suggested in http://dspguru.notrace.dk/list2.html)

Tried to convert again:

C:\temp\BeSweet>besweet -core ( -input vobs.lst -output 01.mp3 -lo)

But then I get an error from Windows saying:

BeSweet.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows.
You will need to restart the program.

An error log is being created.

and BeSweet has exited :-(

The log file is not very helpful:

That's all. Am I doing something wrong?!

When I look at the two log files it seems that the Azid part of the successful
log is missing from the log of the erroneous run?!

The error happened on an AMD Athlon system running Windows 2000.

Best regards,

Jorgen

You need to download BeSweet 1.4 and extract it. Then extract the 1.5b16 and overwrite the files in it. You don't need to d/l the azid.dll, its already in besweet.

Hi,

Downloaded BeSweet 1.4.
Removed C:\temp\BeSweet and recreated it.

Unpacked BeSweet 1.4
Unpacked 1.5b16 (overwriting existing 1.4 files)
Unpacked VOBInput.zip

Tried again with a list file - same result as mentioned above :(

?!?

Since v1.5b4 (I don't remember exactly, it could be beta 5, 6 or 7...) and also with latest b17, BeSweet always crashes on my system when beginning the second pass (after searching maximun gain on first pass). With 1.4 it goes fine allways, never crashed. I allways use this command:

"C:\Archivos de programa\Ripping\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Archivos de programa\Ripping\BeSweet\pelicula.lst" -output "d:\pelicula.wav" -substream 0x81 -2ch ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -equit -c normal -L -3db --maximize ) -profile( ~~~~~ Default Profile ~~~~~ )

Pelicula.lst is a list of original VOBs from DVD. I have VOBInput.dll v 1.3. Error happens with all DVDs, not only one. DVD is decrypted with smartripper 2.41 in backup mode.

There's a pause after first pass and then BeSweet.exe crashes before beginning the second pass.

My system is a laptop PIV 1700 (DELL Inspiron 8200), Windows XP SP1.

I'm using DanniDin's GUI 0.6 b73.

Thank you very much. it will be fixed. surely!
i'm currently waiting for VOBInput.dll v1.31

BeSweet 1.5b18 has exactly the same bug. It crashes like b17, b16... etc. on the second pass. I think you'll fix it with new vobinput 1.3.1, but with 1.4 it never crashes with vobinput 1.3.

Bye.

@ikerrg
thank you for your reports! please post your logfile and attach your listfile.

10x!

ps,
i'll be uploading a new binary in an hour with minor modifications. please redownload before feedbacking.

OK, I'll wait an hour and then I'll retry the process with new BeSweet (now I'm using SouthPark PAL DVD).
I forget: I've seen that I must have Ogg installed for b18 to run. I don't use Ogg, so I think BeSweet should not try to load ogg.dll.

Bye.

DSPguru
13th May 2003, 20:30
it's up for quite some time now..

edit : regarding ogg, if it doesn't work, you could just put the libvorbis.dll in your BeSweet folder..

I prefer Azid's 2-pass normalization because I think it gives more quality. I have never used OTA's PreGain, PostGain or HybridGain (thank you DanniDin for this GREAT and easy GUI).

Tomorrow more and better.
Bye.

dunno ... b16 works fine with vobinput1.3 but b17/b18 crashes (no logfile only the starting lines on loading...)

b17/b18 seems not to perform ota gain. any! tried pre/post/hyb. no sign anywhere, logfile complete, but the sound is unattenuated (15.6 db deficiency is clearly audible) no problem in b16.

i have problems with timestamps 2. sometime the interval is simply ignored. dunno what's it depend on.

can anyone explain me these ? maybe w89se is going down again?

thx

my former tests were a bit ... chaotic :-) so i went back to the roots.
- all stuff deleted, reg cleared (just for safe)
- reinstall:
- bs14
- bs15b18
- bsg06b75

-> vobinput works, postgain works, split not accepted (???)

ps just occured. formerly i kept besweet & beslice/besplit09b4 in the same folder. i checked the packs. different hip.dll versions are included (sweet:hip/03.02.15, split:hip/02.10.26). is it intentional? maybe, it was the source of the former faults. (???)

I have a 2CD rip with ogg sound that has a problem in the beginning of the 2nd CD. I decided to rejoin the two CDs and then cut them again. The problem is that I cann't put the two ogg files in a lst file for besweet to join. Using VDubMod to join the videos results in an error where they are joined.

When I try to convert the lst file to ogg, I get a windows error message and close besweet. I get the log file empty. when I try converting it to another format, I get the command prompt and nothing happens.

I use WinXP and besweet GUI and BeSweetv1.5b18.

Is there a way to join 2 ogg files with besweet?
Is there a way to join them without re-encoding?
Or is there another software that can do that?

Please, any help is appreciated.

I am trying to encode ripped VOB's PCM streams into OGG Vorbis.

I've got a very long resulting file because it contains VOB1 + (VOB1+VOB2) + (VOB1+VOB2+VOB3) + etc. I've tried both besweet 1.4 and besweet 1.5 beta, and I've tried with a LST file and the GUI batch mode.

I've also tried to convert the VOBs separetely, but I can't join the resulting files into a readable OGG file.

I run under Windows 98 SE.

Thanx for helping!

The sencond pass tries to begin and program crashes with this error:

AppName: besweet.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: vobinput.dll

It seems a vobinput.dll bug with new BeSweet 1.5 (with 1.4 runs perfect).

weird.. it seem to work on my computer...

i'm attaching another binary.. though i doubt it'll make a difference.

btw, have you tried working with hybridgain ? (it's one-pass..)

ikerrg
13th July 2003, 10:21
HybridGain seems to work, but it makes 2 pass!!! why?

Command line is:

"C:\Archivos de programa\Ripping\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Archivos de programa\Ripping\BeSweet\pelicula.lst" -output "d:\pelicula.wav" -substream 0x82 -2ch ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -equit -s surround2 -d 2/0 -c normal -L -3db -f1 ) -ota( -hybridgain )

And, how HybridGain works? I've been using azid's 2 pass since I began to use BeSweet and it gives me very good quality and level of sounds. Has HybridGain the same quality?

Even if I begin to use HybridGain, BeSweet 1.5 is still buggy with azid's 2 pass --maximize command. You should check your old 1.4 code and compare with 1.5 to find what is crashing with vobinput.dll. I use a P4 CPU, so it could be only a 3DNow! instruction in the code..., I don't know.

Thank you.
Bye.
