Hi,

I've backed up a dvd using the followin tools.

Dvd Decrypter - file mode & iso mode

Instandtcopy (Latest one with all the hocky pocky)

Pditools

Daemon tools

Recordnow max

Now my problem is this main movie plus soundtrack and english subtitles is small enough
to fit onto a dvdr.so now i'm in ic7 i'v took out all the extras ect, leaving me with just the above plus the main menus (which i want to keep).
I have menus set to 100%
Main movie set at 100%
The whole processes takes 10 mins.

After making an iso image with Pditools,i now mount the image in Daemon tools and check with powerdvd.Everything is ok.
So after i'v burnt it to disc and place in my standalone player NOW THIS IS MY PROBLEM,the movie does not automaticlly start playing,ie.menu apeer so you can select play movie ect.Now if i press play on my remote the movie starts, then press menu on remote the main menu apeers and you can navigate around it.
So why when i place the disc in player does the main menu not automatically fire up so i can press subs ect, then start film.

This is my first time using IC7 all i want from any film is the original menu plus main movie only.
Plz can anyone help.

ah Fresh Blood :D

I'm sorry to inform you that it is not wise to use IC to strip the extras etc

It cannot do it correctly and you may have removed one of the VOB ID's that need to be kept to keep structure

can you explain this part again please so I can fully understand your problem

you could always use DVDtoolbox which is free and will rip the movie only with the audio & subs you want, but you will not keep the menu as it will just play automatically when you put the DVD in :(

Hi misterX,

What i mean is when you place an original dvd in your dvd player. The disc will auto start going (in most cases)to your main menu screen.
You have not had to press any remote buttons it just automatically starts the dvd and go's to your main menu screen.

With my copy when you place it in your dvd player you have to physically press the play button on your remote for it to start playing.Missing the main menu out and starting the movie.

Now while the movie is playing if i press dvd menu on my remote, you will be taking to the main menu.Where you can navigate around as normal. All the functions work IE.select a chapter ect.

I would like my copy to act like the original.Going straight to the main menu without pressing no remote buttons when you dvd players tray is closed.

I,ve been backing up dvd for along time using cce + avisynth
but this was my first atempt at IC7 i really would like to keep the original menu.
Thanks

thought so

It looks like you are removing a Title in IC that plays before the menu and this is a big NO NO

this is why the player seems to be hanging as it has no video to play as it's missing and is waiting for your command. This normally happens with a DVD that has a language/screen format selection before playing or has a VOB ID that is under 1 second but has been removed

If you played this DVD in a fussy standalone it would probably refuse to play it, but yours is more leniant by the sounds of things

you need to check exactly what plays on the DVD before getting to the main menu and make sure you keep that structure intact

you can maybe use IC to get rid of the extras but I suggest you use Ifoedit to remove the warnings etc that play before the menu and not IC

then it will work

Right i'v just had a look at original in my stand alone player.
The first thing to fire up is THE WARNER BROTHERS logo, followed by
this motion picture has been classified (R1 ntsc classification).
Then the main menu puts up.

So if i were to leave the warner logo in ect.Do you thing that would work.

Thanks

as long as you leave everything intact that plays before the menu yes it will, but beware of hidden titles as shown in my Simpsons/SpyKids examples. When you uncheck a title it doesn't necessarily mean it will remove the whole thing and may in some cases result in over 650MB being wasted

you can always use Ifoedit to get rid of the logo and warning and leave the structure intact, but it depends on how well versed you are with Ifoedit

Not up to speed with ifoedit never really needed to use it much.
But i will give the disc another go leave various shit in and see if that works.

I'll let you know what happen.
I'll not have time today as it's Sunday 10.50 am
Time for bacon sandwiches
Followed by a wash then a trip to the club for my sunday sesh
cheers misterX

I see you got it fixed but I wanted to add that this happens if I burn to a DVD-RW disc. It will not auto play, but when I burn the final to a DVD-R disc, it works just fine. I guess my player (a JVC 502SL) won't auto play if they are RW discs.

Hi m8,
I dont have that problem i allways use rw disc to check if everythings ok before burning to dvdr.
my standalone is a Sony and auto starts with a rw disc in no probs.

Snotuk you see, if you are careful it works, and glad it did and now use the knowledge gained for the future

next time if you don't fancy removing the VOB ID's using IfoEdit is to just disable playback of the VOB ID cell entry instead after processing

as a few MB wasted for logo's aint really gonna bother the quality too much
