View Full Version : Standalone player periodically pauses.

Just finished capturing and authoring a 5.1DD version of the SW trilogy (starting with Jedi). Everything plays fine on my computer (PowerDVD) but when played in my standalone (Pioneer DVL-919) it periodically freezes. It appears to be totally random - it will play fine for a minute or two then freeze. Skipping forward it will play again, and then freeze again.

One additional thing that I have noticed is that the player will stop incrementing the time counter, and then the movie will eventually freeze. It will stop counting for several minutes, all the while the movie plays fine, then it freezes.

I'm burning with a Sony DRU120 with the Richo 5125 v1.51 flash, bitset to DVD-ROM, GEAR DVD burning s/w (Nero SUCKS!!! 10 f'n coaster so far) and Ritek media. Authored with IFOEdit. Is this a common problem? are there any solutions?

Thanks

Ted

I think it could be your standalone player...
you need to try the same disk on someone else's player. preferably a different model/brand.

I'm not sure about that - if I backup a DVD rip, with the same media, same burner and s/w, that movie will play perfectly. I'm beginning to think that it has something to do with IFOedit, as a read a post on the forum here about issues with IFOedit and CCE (which I used). I just d/l the Ulead moviemaker demo and will see if that makes a difference.

Thanks
