View Full Version : Pitch Issue: Barry White has hacked my computer...

Hey guys, thanks for the great forum!
The DVD2SVCD program is great for a newbie like me and I greatly appreciate it. However I've run into one small problem in that whilst the double CD rip looks great (given the poor quality of the DVD anyway) and is in perfect sync, the guys voice seems to have changed from effeminate whimper to a Barry White-esk drawl. Whilst this may sound rather like two problems solved in one, it does rather make me think that I've drunk waaaay too much when I try and watch it.
I ripped using DVD2SVCD (D2S112B1) and TMPG (2.58.44.152) and I still have my 7gigs of files and the two CD images (via iso reader) so I can get at all of the files. Does anyone know how I can fix the audio? Furthermore will I have to wait for TMPG to re-encode again? (Here’s hoping not, although it’s my DVD so there’s no rush.)
Also, as regards altering the chapters around, which file should I use for the input for the chapters guide? If it's going to be tough then I'll leave it as it is.
Anyway – thanks for the great guides, support and program. Any help is greatly appreciated.
-Ben
P.S. Does Doom9 not like Opera? It keeps telling me not to leach (guess it doesn't send a header) and when I then try and download by going via IE it does the same thing (IP ban?). No great trial, but I find IE so dreadful after using a decent browser.

DVD:It's an American magic DVD that I want to put on SVCD because I can't play it on my DVD player. I've no idea, but I guess it's NTSC, it 4:3 and I think regionless.

Markrb suggested that I try without downsampling to 44.1 but unfortunately I'm still getting errors in the log. Does anyone else have any suggestions about what to do? Also, how do I resume the process so that I don't have to wait eight hours.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Please? Anyone?

i think this falls into the category of "Not all frame rate conversions are supported"
try getting rid of:
-r 1200 1001
from the -ota() section and run besweet again. Downsampling with --shibatch shouldn't be the problem here. Anyhow, try what i suggested and post that logfile if there's anything out of the ordinary. Do you have any idea why -r was included in your conversion?

I'm afraid that I've no idea how the -r switches got in there - I just used the standard settings in DVD2SVCD. Presumably then I use a BAT file to start besweet on its own. Forgive me, but I've never really had to use multiple starts in a BAT file. Presumably the command will look like this, saved as a .bat. How do I use the start command to get it working properly?
C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe -core( -input
C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.ac3 -output
C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1_FS1.mp2 -logfile
C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1_FS1.log ) -azid( -L -3db -c normal -s surround -g max ) -ota( -d -151 ) -shibatch( --rate 44100 ) -2lame( -e -b 192 -m s ) -split( -start 0 -end 5711 )
Thanks again for the help! As much as I admire the deep senuous tones of Barry, I'd rather have the sound as it was meant to be. :)
pacohaas
26th March 2003, 21:27
just use quotes around your paths:
"C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\BeSweet\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "C:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Extracted_audio_1.ac3" -output "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1_FS1.mp2" -logfile "C:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\Movie\Encoded_audio_1_FS1.log" ) -azid( -L -3db -c normal -s surround -g max ) -ota( -d -151 ) -shibatch( --rate 44100 ) -2lame( -e -b 192 -m s ) -split( -start 0 -end 5711 )
I also usually add @echo off to the start of the .bat file, and pause to the end especially when not using the logfile switch.

Thank you - I actually figured out what I was doing wrong and was editing the above post, but thanks anyway. :)
I've started another thread to cover the issue now as this one is getting a little bogged down by by ineptitude!
