View Full Version : Confused with DVD-R size in IC..

Instant Copy for some reason sets DVD-R sizes at 4.3GB, yet the 3 discs that I tested it with thus far all resulted in final projects being below 4GB!

Over all, I love IC.. I try to maintain video quality above 85% by removing extras, non-english subtitles and audio, and removing 2 channel audio streams (I leave the 5.1 on only).

But I noticed that if I set the selector to about 4.69GB range, and run IC, the result always fits on the NERO CD without a problem..

Wierd..

can anyone report setting it to 4.65GB and going over 4.37GB?...that definitely won't work for all movies but it seems to get close to the target for those who don't want to do 6 bilion 6 hundred million caclulations

yet again your witty replies cause confusion for me

in answer to your question I can report that setting it to 4.65Gb does result in a file over 4.37Gb, on more occasions now with the ability to reduce the save quality in the reg

the highest I've had is 4.72 and the lowest had to be 4.53 and both came out at just under 4.37, so 4.65 may get you somewhere close in most cases but some it won't

it all depends on the DVD and the video content

but where do the 6 bilion 6 hundred million caclulations come into it?

are you really that slow at maths? :D, or just plain lazy?

p.s. don't say I told you tho

if people really want to know the best method to get 4.37Gb everytime with IC then all you do is set IC to 4.70Gb and then use DVD95Copy to squeeze the menu/extras down that little further if IC resulting file is still to big, resulting in a perfect 4.37Gb

DVD2One will do the same thing now but will also process the movie whereas DVD95Copy will probably copy the movie across without processing so only take 10 mins or so :)

I'm lazy and yes I exaggerate quite a bit.
