Audio Issue: Barry White has stolen re-recorded my sound. pitch issue

Hey guys, thanks for the great forum!

The DVD2SVCD program is great for a newbie like me and I greatly appreciate it. However I've run into one small problem in that whilst the double CD rip looks great (given the poor quality of the DVD anyway) and is in perfect sync, the guys voice seems to have changed from effeminate whimper to a Barry White-esk drawl. Whilst this may sound rather like two problems solved in one, it does rather make me think that I've drunk waaaay too much when I try and watch it.

I ripped using DVD2SVCD (D2S112B1) and TMPG (2.58.44.152) and I still have my 7gigs of files and the two CD images (via iso reader) so I can get at all of the files. Does anyone know how I can fix the audio? Furthermore will I have to wait for TMPG to re-encode again? (Here’s hoping not, although it’s my DVD so there’s no rush.)

Also, as regards altering the chapters around, which file should I use for the input for the chapters guide? If it's going to be tough then I'll leave it as it is.

Anyway – thanks for the great guides, support and program. Any help is greatly appreciated.

P.S. Does Doom9 not like Opera? It keeps telling me not to leach (guess it doesn't send a header) and when I then try and download by going via IE it does the same thing (IP ban?). No great trial, but I find IE so dreadful after using a decent browser. :D

Please change the title to better reflect the actual problem, but keep it funny. :)

Also read the mandatory thread as it explains how to make a good post and the info we need to be able to help you. With the level of info you have given it is really a guessing game.

Afaik, a mod would need to do that. In vB, thread title != first post title, so editing that doesn't work, unless hacked.

edit by mod Yes the main top title needs to be edited by a mod, but the inside title can be changed and this allows the member to choose what he wants as a title instead of mod deciding what it should be for him.

DVD:It's an American magic DVD that I want to put on SVCD because I can't play it on my DVD player. I've no idea, but I guess it's NTSC, it 4:3 and I think regionless.

I had a really great answer all typed out when the internet died for me so I couldn't respond. Lets hope REV 2 is as good.

As you can see by the BeSweet log file there are many CRC errors. This is most likely the problem.

I do hope that DSPGuru will see this as he knows more about his program and errors with it then anyone.

I do have one thing to try though, but I am less then certain it will work.

1. Start a new conversion in a NEW directory leaving all of the other stuff untouched.
2. Let DVD2SVCD finish the audio conversion, but this time don't downsample to 44.1. Leave it at 48 by unchecking the downsample button on the audio tab.
3. After DVD2SVCD finishes converting the audio you can stop DVD2SVCD.
4. Examine the BeSweet log file for any errors. If there are none continue, if there are errors stop and lets try something else.
5. If no errors copy the mp2 from the new directory into the old one overwritting the old file.
6. Start recover from muxing and cutting in DVD2SVCD
7. Check the resulting mpg's
8. If it works enjoy.

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately I'm still getting errors in the log. Does anyone else have any suggestions about what to do? Also, how do I resume the process so that I don't have to wait eight hours for TMPG to finish again?

To "resume" the process, select the 'misc' tab, click 'recover', select the recovery file in the directory you want it from. Using the drop down choices choose where you want to start recovery from (start, video encoding, etc.)
