Problem with SUBTITLES

Hi, I tried to backup "Proof of life" and did extract the subtitles 0x28-Poruguese and all the other stuff (movie/audio/...). Then I author the DVD and insert the file xxx.sup and all the other stuff, but when the authoring process finishes, I got no subtitles at all.
I use XP Pro, Vobedit 0.6 and Ifoedit 0.95.
Anybody has problems with subtitles in this movie? I've donne various backups without problems but this one and also "Matrix" gave me no subtitles ...

When you rip the movie try remapping the subs id from 28 to 20. As long as you haven't ripped the subs at id 20 already. If you're only ripping 28 then remap it.

I did what you sudgest and it works almost fine. Right now I can get the Portuguese subtitles, but I don't know why, only till half of the movie. After 1H04m, the movie flicks and I have no more subtitles.
When I author the DVD, the log window shows:
"Stream 20 - Data will arrive too late.Currente SCR:350840832, Stream DTS:0" and the same message repeats 4 times with more SCR numbers.
Any idea about what's happening with my subtitles?

Hello everybody,

Well, I was encountering the same problem as mc4 with quite a lot movies. Same error messages as well during multiplexing. To be specific, the subtitles were OK till a point of time, after that no subtitles at all! Audio synch was just fine.

The method I use can be summarized into the following steps:

1. Ripping using DVD Decrypter in IFO mode: main PGC, demux prefered audio stream(s) and stream processing for video and desired subtitle(s). Note that I do not demux subtitles.

2. Making .d2v file using DVD2AVI. I set "Audio -> Track number -> None" because I already have audio stream from step 1.

3. PAY ATTENTION HERE!!! Subtitles are extracted from ripped movie (step 1) using two proggies that can be found in www.doom9.org : VobSub and Sub2Sup. Install VobSub, start "VobSub Configure", press "Open" button and in "files of type" select "Ifo and vobs...". Then open VTS_0x_1.vob that is the ripped movie, and then select PGC, leave the desired subtitle(s) in the top right box and be sure you have all cells in the right down box. Left boxes are for non-desired subs and/or cells. Press OK, select output folder and wait a while to get two (2) files: one *.sub and one *.idx. Then start Sub2Sup, select the *.idx file you got before and hit OK... VOILA!!! You have a *.sup file, suitable for IFOEdit later on...

4. Compression: I prefer CCE as it is fast and satisfies me in terms of final video quality. Anyway, the result is a *.mpv file that I rename to *.m2v to use it later on.

5. IFOEdit step 1: Open initial (ripped) ifo and select "Tools -> Save celltimes...". Save them somewere. Close IFOEdit.

6. IFOEdit step 2: Open IFOEdit and choose "DVD Authoring -> Author new DVD". Put everything you want (you are familiar with this, right?) and here is your new DVD content ready to be burned!

I found the subtitles tip somewere in another topic within this forum. I was about to smash my original DVD's because I had no luck in many of them! But after trying the above method for the same DVD's and finally got a result... now I can sleep like a baby!

I try those 2 programs that you refer, Vobsub and Sub2Sup and they work fine. Right now I can have my subtitles during all the movie.
I use DVD Decrypter, TMPGEnc to compress my mpg2 movie, Vobsub and Sub2sup to get the subtitles, Ifoedit to author the DVD and RecordNow Max to burn it.
It's the 2nd movie that I backup with those programs and they work fine,
