IFOEDIT Drops Files and Changes Order

Often when I select VOB Extras and this process completes, IFOEDIT has dropped some of the VOB's originally listed after the Create IFO's process completes. In addition, it sometimes changes the order of the VOB files. I'm trying to make mixed video discs from content I own. When IFOEDIT does this, it does so consistently and no number of re-runs will fix it.

Any help would be appreciated please.

More detail needed. You're joining different video clips together? Turning them into VOB files first and then joining them?

Ripping as vob files with DVDDecrypter.

IFOEDIT just doesn't seem to be able to handle certain vob's. I have made some mixed discs flawlessly. But, for example, as a test, I have one artist where I have 4 vob's. IFOEDIT creates new IFO's and shows all 4 at the end of the Create IFO's process. Then when I run VOB Extras, at the end of that process it only retains 1 vob file -- it loses the other 3 videos consistently. Those other 3 vobs play fine with Power DVD on their own. Have tried re-ripping them, but same issue, so it's not the rip.

When you say all 4 VOBs after the 'Create IFOs' are shown, do you mean VOB files or VOB-IDs. If they are VOB-IDs, what are the details? Paste the screen in this thread.

In the main overview when you first load up your IFO file, scroll down to your PGC and check where it has...

The question marks are your VOB and Cell Id numbers. What did this have here before and after?

OK, I created new IFOs for 3 VOBs. First file was 1/1, and became 1/1 after running VOB Extras. Second file was 8/1, and third was 12/1 after using Create IFOs. After running VOB Extras, both the second and third VOBs disappeared, leaving me with only the first VOB. DVD player in IFOEDIT shows only the fist VOB.

Use VobEdit to change the VOB-IDs from 8 to 2 and 12 to 3 and try that.

OK, that was cool ... I changed this info with VOBEDIT (a new program to me). Perhaps I need to make more changes than just the one line in each VOB where I changed the ID's as you suggested, because what I then got when I Create IFOs is 5 VOBs, but #2 and #3 show 0's for the time (actually, 15/100's of a second each I think). Then when I run VOB Extras, I get 3 VOBs, but #2 and #3 have nothing in them (15/100th's of a second long each.) (The real #2 and #3 VOBs with the real content disappear from the list as they have always done.)

Did you change the VOB-IDs using the 'Join Clips' from the drop down menu, this creates a new VOB file with a new VOB-ID. You have to do this because the VOB-ID is written hundreds of times throughout the VOB and using this method changes all of them.

You might have to do this with each file on their own and make sure that you increase the VOB-ID by one each time the Cell-ID is similar to a previous VOBs. For example the first VOB normally has a VOB-ID of 1 and a Cell-ID of 1 and then the Cell-ID will go up by one usually for each chapter. But when you add a new clip the Cell Numbers of them might be similar, if the start of this clip has a VOB-ID and a Cell-ID of 1 this can cause problems because the DVD Player will be told to play this and how does it know which one to play. So you keep then looking up through your new VOB-ID 2 until it goes to a new file and see if that one has a similar Cell-ID, if it does then you change it's VOB-ID to the next one up.

No, I didn't, but I've noe tried Join Clips and can't figure out how to get it to create a new VOB. It just asks for the file to open, then the name to save under, but when I provide this information, nothing happens.

1.Open the file first that you wish to change the VOB-ID of.
2.Then select 'Join Clips'.
3.Then select a directory/folder for where to save the new VOB.
4.Then input the VOB-ID number you want.

If this doesn't work, first rename the file to VTS_01_001.VOB
